Liverpool Blues

(Words and music by The Mersey Wreckers)

1.   Around the world I’ve sailed so many, many times

I’ve met a thousand people and the sights I’ve seen would really blow your mind,

But when at last I quit the sea, there’s only one place I wanna be,

We’ve got those mean ol' Liverpool Blues.

2.    I’ve got those tear in me eye, try not to cry emotional Liverpool Blues

The kind of blues that misses all the misty, mighty Mersey river views

Don’t want go down to sunny Spain, give me the Pier Head, in the pouring rain

We’ve got those mean ol' Liverpool Blues.

3.    I’ve got those hiya Jack, I wish I was back,  shake me hand,  Liverpool blues

The kind of blues I really hope I never ever have to ever lose

I don’t want to go where the grass skirts are swingin’, just give me Sunday evening in the ‘ol pub singing

We’ve got those mean ol' Liverpool Blues.

4.    I’ve got those how do you do, are you Red or Blue, football mad Liverpool blues

The kind of blues we feel when ever they win and we actually lose

On match days when I’m a thousand miles away, I’m longing just to see them play

We’ve got those mean ol' Liverpool Blues.

5.    I’ve got those far away, home some day, sad ‘ol Liverpool blues

The kind of blues that drive you to consume a lot of evil local booze

Don’t need to go to wild Tennessee, the pubs in Scotty Road are wild enough for me

We’ve got those mean ol' Liverpool Blues.

6.    I’ve got those miss the crack, when will you be back, come home Liverpool blues

The kind of blues that when you sing them, from your eyes the tears will start to ooze

I can’t wait to see the Mersey and the ships, I can’t wait to taste those salty fish & chips

We’ve got those mean ol' Liverpool Blues.

      Ending –

The kind of blues I really hope I never ever have to ever lose

We’re goin’ home, never more to roam

We’ve got those Liverpool –

The one and only Liverpool –

We’ve got those Liverpool blues.
