The
Mersey Wreckers, originally formed in 1964 as The Wreckers Folk Group,
perform a mixture of traditional and modern folk songs and ‘middle of the
road?music blended together with a great helping of Scouse humour.
After many successful years ‘on the road? playing at folk clubs, theatres,
festivals and private functions across the UK, Lol, Dave Steve and Trevor
decided to record an album of some of their favourite and most popular
Liverpool songs. The result is ‘Echoes from Liverpool? telling of life and
times past and present, in the great port city.
Tragically, before completion of recording, Trevor Burke
(seen opposite playing the banjo) died of acute myeloid leukaemia.
However Lol, Dave and Steve determined to complete the ‘Echoes?project,
not only as a tribute to their friend but also as a means of supporting
both the national charity, Leukaemia Research and local children’s
hospice, Claire House, from sales of the album.
‘Echoes from Liverpool?is available for purchase from our Mersey
Wreckers Music Shop page in both MP3 and Compact Disc format. In
addition, it has been decided to release some of the tracks from ‘Echoes
from Liverpool?together with a selection of tracks from the latest
Mersey Wreckers recordings, as individual MP3 downloads and details of
these can also be found on our Music Shop page.
